January Newsletter

Hello quilters!

We are back in the Shop. Our minds are still on vacation. So, we're not really up to speed yet.

Tamiya and I are sure glad to be back to work.  We had to put up with the two younger dogs and their nonsense for over a week.  We've been catching up on our sleep and enjoying the relative peace and quiet at the Shop.

Mom is still in a semi zombie state from being off all week. I, personally, think the puppies did something to her.  They were stuck like Velcro to her.  I'm going to try feeding Mom some chocolate after I'm finished with the newsletter, that might help her.  Some days Mom really needs me to take care of her.  Wish me luck.

Onto what's new in the Shop for 2026.

First, this year we have brought back the Tote Bag Program.  If you are not familiar with it, allow me to explain.

If you spent over $100 of regular priced products and before taxes on one transaction, you will receive a reusable tote bag. If you bring this tote bag back in with you during 2026, you will receive 10% Off Regular Price Fabric over 1 yard.

The catch... you have to bring the tote bag in with you or you will not receive your 10% Off. We don't keep track of who has or doesn't have a tote.  This tote is only good for 2026 & we have a limited supply of tote bags.

Second, we will be hosting various classes this winter, including our Free Pattern & Demo Day.

Third, to get you out of your comfort zone & get your creative juices going.  We are hosting a Fabric Challenge.

In our Fabric Challenge, we will be giving you 2 13"x 22" pieces of fabrics that compliment each other.  They're probably nothing you would pick out but they will work together.  They will be in stapled shut paper bags with a number on it. You must use the 2 pieces of fabric in your bag in your  project. We will have it marked down what fabrics are in your mystery bag.

This is a free Challenge.

Rules of the Fabric Challenge

  1. Sign up and pick your bag before Friday, January 16th.
  2. You must use both fabrics in your project. You can use them right or wrong side out but they must be in there.
  3. Use may use up to 4 different fabrics of your choice in your project. These also may be used either right or wrong side out.
  4. Your project must be a small project.  ex. wall hanging, bag, table runner, etc.
  5. Nothing bigger than a wall hanging.  I know this will be very difficult for some of you.
  6. You must hand in your project by February 27th.
  7. We will hang your project up and the winner will be chosen by popular vote.
  8. Your project will be given a number so no one knows who you are.
  9. We will have some prizes for the top 3 projects.  I'm still working on this one. I promise it won't be anything weird like dog biscuits.
  10. Have fun. Don't take it so seriously that you stress yourself out. Just relax and make what comes to you mind.

Last but not least.  Here are some of the new fabrics that come in just before Christmas.

cuddle soft 60" wide                                          Winnie the Pooh

A selection of different Andover & Benartex                       A collection of subtle colors by Andover

I think I covered everything for this month.

We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

Now that we've relaxed and regained our energy, we look forward to bringing you new fabrics, notions & ideas.

If you need your scissors sharpened or sewing machine serviced, there will be a waiting period. We've been back less than a day and Mom already swamped with sewing machines. A good thing to be swamped with.

We hope to see you soon & look forward to seeing everyone.

Afterall, we haven't seen you since last year.

Keeping You in Stitches,

Obi the Wonder Dog
